Briarwatch v0.4.0 — build a woodland defense scene. The new ZIP adds modular terrain, build-slot HUD art, directional level-1 tower firing, new enemy/ability animation, and browser/Godot examples. Earlier v0.1.0–v0.3.0 downloads remain available.

New in v0.4.0

  • Build the map: eight grass tiles, 15 connecting road pieces, six separate props, and an editable 8×5 sample map.
  • Aim the towers: Arrow Watch and Stone Lobber level 1 have left, front, and right aiming/firing art with stationary bases.
  • More motion: Thistle Hare and Barkguard have left-facing movement; Briar Snare level 1 has a four-frame attack and separate rear/front binding layers.
  • Use the pieces: separate HUD artwork, five build-slot states, transparent PNG frames and sheets, clip timing/socket metadata, a browser interaction preview, and a Godot 4 example.

Earlier tower animations, still included

Both original tower families have three upgrade designs and four-frame firing clips at every level. These GIFs preview the v0.3.0 upgrade animations retained in the v0.4.0 ZIP.

Briarwatch tower, enemy, projectile, and forest prop catalog

Thornling and Mossback Boar each include an idle sprite and four-frame walk, attack, and defeat animations. Projectiles, impacts, forest props, 14 earlier clips, original metadata, and the v0.3.0 changelog and license remain in the new ZIP.

Import & examples

Use the PNG frames, horizontal sheets, and extras_v0.4.0/animation_catalog.json for new clip timing and paths. The original animations.json and static_assets.json still describe the preserved earlier art. Open the browser preview from a local web server or import extras_v0.4.0/godot_example/project.godot in Godot 4. Read README.md, CHANGELOG.md, and LICENSE.txt in the ZIP.

Scope & usage

This is an art starter pack and integration example, not a complete playable game. New enemy attack/defeat clips, Briar Snare levels 2–3, audio, and eight-direction upgrade animation are not included. New movement is left-facing; the added tower firing art covers three directions at level 1. The browser preview's Arrow/Stone cards are static; directional firing plays in the Godot example. You may use and modify the assets in free or commercial games; do not redistribute the source sprites as a standalone pack. Full terms are in LICENSE.txt.

AI disclosure

Artwork was created with generative AI assistance, then normalized and checked for game exports. Supporting code and documentation were also created with AI assistance.
